Learning Outside the Classroom.

Learning Outside the Classroom.

At Holbrook School we like to use the school grounds, the local area and trips to enhance the children’s learning and understanding of the curriculum there are trips during the school year. Some examples of these trips and visits are:-

  • Walking visits in the local area – e.g. Walking to Tesco, Lidi, greengrocer
  • Trips using the school minibus e.g. Kenilworth Castle, library, Herbert Art Gallery, School swimming.
  • Public Bus – Cathedral, Transport Museum
  • Sports competitions – e.g. Gymnastics, Indoor Athletics, Rowing.
  • Coach visits e.g. Morning of Music, theatre trip.
All trips are planned and risk assessed by staff and signed off by the Educational Visits Coordinator to ensure the safety of pupils and that they are adding value to the child’s education journey.

The school will send you information about each trip or activity before it takes place. As part of the application form to the school we ask parents to sign a consent form for the local area and a 20 mile radius from the school, so during normal school opening hours we can take advantage of ‘learning in the real world’ as it arises.

Written parental consent will be required for trips that are:-

  • Outside of normal school hours – Hill visit in Derbyshire.
  • Adventurous – Climbing AT7 Centre.
  • Further than 20miles from school – Beach Visit
  • Take place on a weekend – Football tournament.
