Attendance

Your child’s attendance at school has a significant impact on their learning. At Holbrook School we aim for at least 96% attendance during the school year. Anytime your child is absent for any reason you must inform the school.

When your child misses school they are likely:

•To find the work harder
•Not feel part of their class
•Forget what they have learnt
•Find it harder to keep friends

If your child has an attendance of 96% or more it means that they have had less than 7 days off. As a school we realise how important it is to encourage attendance so each term we run special events to reward children who exceed this target. For those that manage 100% an extra special award is given.

Lateness

No one likes to be late and this is especially true for children. Even turning up 5 minutes late causes your child problems including:

•Finding it hard to settle in school
•Miss important notices and lesson
•Causes them to disturb others learning

Holidays in school time

Should you wish to take your child out during term time please make an appointment to speak to the head teacher.

ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS ARE IMPORTANT AND ARE CONTINUALLY MONITORED BY THE SCHOOL AND EDUCATIONAL WELFARE OFFICE.
